Strategy: Stated and Real

Often, what companies say they do is not what they actually do.   Stated strategy is not always real strategy. Here are examples of strategy stated and real.

    Real strategy: Work within billable hours and flexible work arrangements
  9. Pharmaceutical company:
  10. Stated strategy: Patients first and the profits will follow.
    Real Strategy: Be a leader in the industry with cutting edge pharmaceuticals.
  11. Pharmaceutical company:
  12. Stated strategy: Team-oriented pharmaceutical manufacturing
    Real strategy: Increase efficiency and reduce cost.
  13. Medical testing equipment company:
  14. Stated strategy: To be the highest quality, lowest cost provider of infectious disease testing systems in North America.
    Real strategy: Capture and retain the highest gross profit.

    Real strategy: Get a 20 percent penetration and achieve revenue of $3 million to $5 million per agent.
